Trim Bargains from Sign of the Lambtree

Today I got some trim bargains from my friend and trim supplier Anwyn of 'Sign of the Lambtree'. Choosing is hard, but deciding what to use them on is even harder!

She has a great range of trim at bargain prices as well as games and medieval artifacts -

Decorated coat ideas

I recently saw some photos of myself in garb at an event and decided that I want another outer coat. The hard part is deciding what style. At this stage, I am thinking loose and 3/4 length; possibly with hanging sleeves, and heavy on the decoration. It also needs to work with Elizabethan and Italian styles.

I put together some pictures that have inspirational trim/decoration:

Trim dyeing

This week I decided to try and dye some trim that I had in my stash.

I wasn't sure of the fibre content of the trim; I suspected a poly-cotton blend.

I realised that I was not likely to use it in it's pink form, so I pot dyed it with some Rit cold water dye (brown), salt and a little laundry detergent.

I stirred for 30 minutes while the dye liquid simmered. I rinsed, following the dye packet instructions, and waited anxiously to see how it would turn out when dry.

And I was delighted with the result! Now I have too many fabrics that I can use it on!

Braid mania!

This is the entry token for the Midwinter Coronation that I recently attended. I just love that braid, and it inspired me to finally do something about learning to make narrow wares and braids.

So I bought this book from one of the lovely local merchants:

And when I got home from the event, my excellent Sister gave me this as a present!

I think the Universe may be trying to tell me something!

By the way, these books come from one of the nicest SCA merchants you will ever meet. Find her at
