Cross and Pearl Necklace

I finished another quick project recently; a necklace to go with the outfit that I have been making for the River Haven Clothing Challenge.

I have had the silver and glass pendant for a few years. I strung it on tiger tail wire with small baroque pearls and glass beads harvested from a thrifted necklace. I have trouble with my hands/fingers, so the hook and bar closure is a lot easier for me to put on and off. Silver crimps secure the ends of the wire.

Seahorse Pendant

My Baron gave me a gift of a beautiful seahorse pendant and I have been planning to string it for a couple of months, but I just hadn't found the right combination of beads.
After a couple of failed attempts,
I think I have finally found a classic design that suits the style of the pendant:

The beads that are showing up as brown are actually purple. All the beads are glass strung on tiger tail wire.

Jasper and Glass Bead Necklace

Here is a necklace I strung recently as a gift for our local Baroness on the occasional of her step down.
The pendant is jasper set in silver and the beads are glass. They are strung on tiger tail wire.

Cabochon Necklace Made From Re-purposed Bracelets

As you would know by now, I love quick projects with a lot of impact. And creating jewellery certainly ticks those boxes!
I bought some cabochon bracelets very cheaply at an end of season sale a few years ago, and recently decided to make them into a necklace.
I had to find some small silver jump rings that I had in the stash, to match the ones that the bracelets came with. Locating the jump rings was the hardest part of the project.

I re-connected the cabochon settings to form a necklace, and added one of the easy-to-do-up clasps that my friend recommended for me, as I have so many issues with my hands.
The colour of the stones varies from wine to purple, depending on the light. I am very pleased with how this quick project turned out, and I think it will go well with sixteenth century Italian and English clothing styles that I wear.

Beaded Necklaces

This week I strung some new necklaces. They are glass beads on tiger tail. I also did a couple of extras for use with mundane wear.

Largesse for a friend's event

An online friend is hosting a big event soon and needed some largesse, so I took the opportunity to make some as a surprise and send it along with a friend who was wayfaring.

Gifts for friends

While I was making largesse, I decided to make a couple of necklaces for my friends:

Both are glass and/or gemstone beads strung on tiger tail wire.

Bling for Royal visit

I made this necklace to wear for the upcoming Royal visit. The beads are brass and glass, strung on tigertail. The ornament is from a deconstructed pair of earrings.

Gift Box Largesse Necklace (White and Purple)

I am still working on jewellery for the Gift Box. This late period necklace has white and purple 4mm glass seed beads strung on tiger tail.

This style of necklace can be worn doubled over- under the gown for Tudor and over the top for sixteenth century Italian.

Pink and White Seed Bead Necklace

I made this necklace as a gift for a little SCA friend for Christmas. I have made her a couple of little Italian style Renaissance dresses, and I thought this style of necklace would look very pretty with her dresses. The beads are glass seed and round beads strung on tiger tail.

Seed bead necklace (Green and black)

Another seed bead necklace, this time a gift for a friend. This style is very useful; it is worn doubled up and can be worn with Italian Renaissance and Tudor gowns.

Beaded Necklace

I was honoured to receive this A&S award in August and it has taken me some time to decide on how to string it on a necklace. These beads were given to me by my Mum, and I think they are subdued enough not to detract from the token.

(Although the colours don't really show up well in the photo, the glass beads are gold and blue.)

Bow Earrings

I have been inspired by the popularity of bow-shaped earrings in the Renaissance:

I found some small metal bow shaped jewellery findings at my local craft store. I gave them a few coats of nail enamel and added earring hooks and a pearl at the bottom.

Next, I think I will experiment with fabric ribbons.

Bee and Pearl Necklace

I made this necklace as a gift for a friend who has bees on her device. It has a purchased bee pendant strung on gold tigertail wire. The beads are large gold seed beads and baroque pearls.

New Renaissance Bling!

What a great week for Renaissance bling! My talented friend Gabriel at Flashes of Flattery (http://flashesofflattery.blogspot.com.au/) made me this lovely Elizabethan necklace out of seed beads:

And I picked this pretty necklace up from a thrift shop for $4. The pearls are just plastic, and a bit discoloured, but I like the colour theme. I cleaned the beads, and re-strung them on tiger tail.

Venetian necklace and brooch set

You might remember this little gem that I found in a thrift store last year.

Since then I have removed the chain and made a necklace out of Baroque freshwater pearls and small tiger-eye gemstones. I also glued a brooch back onto the back of the pendant. I made a second, shorter matching necklace as well. These will be great with front lacing Italian style gowns.

Onyx pendant and pearl necklace

Here is the second pendant made up into a necklace. It is onyx, and the beads are malachite and freshwater baroque pearls strung onto tiger tail.
