Thrift Store Ring Conversion

I have had a lung problem for a few weeks, so I haven't been up to doing anything much. I have worked a little on accessories - they are fun and quick to make, and provide a big impact.

I found this old ring at a thrift store for $3.25. I bought it, took it home, and cut the ring part off. I smoothed the soft metal with my snips, and roughed up the back area. Then I used hot glue to glue a brooch back on. Voila! A new brooch.

Subtletie Plates

After another trawl through the thrift shops, I scored some (slightly dented and tarnished) subtletie plates-

Another lovely thrift store find. I plan to remove the chain on this one and add a long, looped pearl necklace. I might add some little tiger eye beads as well. The stone on the brooch needs a bit of a polish as it has seen some wear. I will post pictures when it is done.

I had a couple of medical appointments last week, and I had to wait a long time for my films to be printed. To kill some time, I went into a local opportunity shop and got some great bargains. It was a discount day too, so I got these brooches for even less than the marked price!
